Childbirth Class
Approach your birth with clarity and openness.
The goals of this childbirth class are to help you understand the birth process, iron out your birth preferences, and learn several coping techniques.
Childbirth Class Topics:
- Hormones, anatomy and physiology
- Signs and stages of labor
- Comfort measures for labor (breathing, massage, and movement)
- Positions to help baby move down and out
- Birthing options/preferences
- Medical interventions and medications
- Inductions and cesarean
- Postpartum recovery and the transition into parenthood
- How to prepare your body and mind prenatally for the birth process
- Tips for partners
Total of 8 hours over the span of 4 weekly classes or a weekend intensive.
Perk of Taking Our Childbirth Class
Entry into monthly Village Prenatals (aka a pregnancy circles). Come sit in circle to hear birth stories, ask questions, and connect with people who get it.
Registration is normally $30. A code will be provided after registering for our Childbirth Class to waive the fee.
How Our Birthing Class is Different:
There are lots of options out there like Lamaze, Hypnobirthing, Birthing from Within, Bradley Technique, etc. Our classes are non-dogmatic. We believe there is no one way to birth, so we talk about physiological birth, c-sections, inductions, and all that comes between.
Our instructors are LA-based doulas, who can offer insight on the various birth settings, providers, and their respective policies and procedures.
For breathing and comfort measures, we share all the tools and practices to prepare you emotionally and physically. Unlike the rhythmic breathing that has been associated with Lamaze, we believe in deep slow breathing to get oxygen to your baby and to engage the parasympathetic nervous system.

Childbirth Class Schedule
Start building your village by learning with other expecting parents! We meet in our space in Pasadena. Classes accommodate no more than 12 people.

- Electronic tools and resources
- Community! More specifically, access to our regularly scheduled Village Prenatals
*Our community consists of many types of families. Not every partner is a dad. Not every couple is married. Some birthing people identify as nonbinary or male. We welcome mothers, fathers, partners, choice parents, single parents, and non-binary people. For single and choice parents, the pricing “per couple” remains the same. You are welcome to bring a support person to class if you’d like. Do what feels right!
**CANCELLATION POLICY: Bookings are non-refundable. If plans change, we are happy to move you to a future group class (notified at least 7 days prior to class and subject to availablility) or apply your balance to a private session or postpartum support circles and workshops.
We do not offer makeups for single classes within a series (like the multi-day childbirth class). We have intimate classes and they sell out, so there typically isn’t room to add you to another class. The childbirth class comes with a manual and copy of slides, and you may read these in the event of a missed class.
