CBE, Infant Feeding, and Newborn Care Classes

Childbirth Education

Village Birth designed our childbirth classes to give you the information, skills, and confidence you need to have an empowering birth experience. Using a non-dogmatic, practical approach, we prepare you for your baby’s birthday and life with a newborn. Doula educators teach each dynamic, discussion-based series while incorporating their local doula experience.

Our goals are to help you understand the birth process, iron out your birth preferences and coping techniques, and know when to let them go. We will help you develop confidence in yourself, your partner, and your care providers, so you feel prepared to welcome your baby.

Topics covered:
– Anatomy, Physiology, and Stages of Labor
– How to prepare prenatally for the birth process- mind, body, and soul!
– Comfort Measures for labor including breathing techniques, massage, positioning, visualization, and more
– Medical interventions and pain medications discussed in an evidence-based, non-judgmental fashion
– Postpartum Recovery and the Transition into Parenthood
– Donuts!

Private Class

Ideal for those wanting a unique, tailored experience or those with hectic work schedules – our private classes can be taught in our cozy office space or in the comfort of your home, at days/times that work best for you! Typically structured in two, four-hour sessions, but other scheduling arrangements can be made.

4-week Series

Breast and Bottle Feeding

In this interactive class you’ll learn everything you need to get ready for breastfeeding your little one in the real world. This curriculum is based on practicality – we spend a bit of time on theory
and cover the basics, then we give more focus to the day-to-day logistics of making this whole “breastfeeding” thing work out. We’ll practice positioning and latch techniques, talk about
building a milk supply, pumping, how to get support if things aren’t going as smoothly as planned, and more! Topics include:

  • Making a plan
  • Partner support
  • Preparing for back to work
  • What’s the deal with bottles?

Saturday, July 31st: 10am PST
Sunday, Sept 26th: 10am PST

2-ish hour class, $75/couple

Newborn Care

Whether you have a million nieces or haven’t held a baby since your brother was born, this infant care class will leave you feeling confident and ready to take on your new parental role. In
addition to diapering and the basics, we’ll talk about sleep and taking care of the most important thing in your baby’s world—you! Other topics include:

  • Bonding with your baby
  • Calming a crying baby
  • When to call the doctor

Sunday, August 1st: 10am PST
Saturday, Oct 2nd: 10am PST

2-ish hour class, $75/couple

Refresher Course

Village Birth offers a private, comprehensive refresher class taught in our cozy office or in your home and crafted to fit your unique situation and needs as your prepare to welcome your second baby and beyond. This four-hour class offers:

  • Space to process your first birth experience
  • The birth process for second and subsequent births
  • Refresher on comfort measures
  • Sibling integration
  • Time to dive into your specific needs (ie: VBAC, review on breastfeeding basics and/or newborn care, etc)



Birth Fit: Postpartum Series

This series is designed for women that have had a baby in the past year and are ready to start healing their bodies through intentional breath work and movement. These classes start with intentional breath work and evolve into full body functional movements & workouts. You will establish a solid core foundation, wake up your posterior chain, and enhance your posture through safe, effective movements that transfer to any activity in our daily lives. Our top three words to describe this class would be BREATH, BODY, and FLOW.The goal is to heal a Diastasis Recti, re-establish proper pelvic floor function, strengthen your core, and address lower back pain. If you are dealing with any of these issues, this class is for you!

The class will be 60 minutes in length for four weeks in a row. You will be also be given movement homework to practice. So, come ready to move and connect! Non-mobile babies are welcome!
