Education

Village Birth’s classes give you the information, skills, and confidence you need to have an empowering birth experience. Using a non-dogmatic, practical approach, we prepare you for your baby’s birth and the transition to life with a newborn. Doula educators teach each dynamic, discussion-based class while incorporating their local doula experience. Currently all classes are in person, unless otherwise noted.

Our community consists of many types of families. Not every partner is a dad. Not every couple is married. Some birthing people identify as nonbinary or male. We welcome mothers, fathers, partners, choice parents, single parents, and non-binary people. Some of our classes are priced out per person and some per couple. For single and choice parents, the pricing “per couple” remains the same. You are welcome to bring a support person to class if you’d like. Do what feels right!

Childbirth Class

Our goals are to help you understand the birth process, iron out your birth preferences and coping techniques, and know when to let them go. We will help you develop confidence in yourself, your partner, and your care providers, so you feel prepared to welcome your baby.

Childbirth Class Topics:
  • Anatomy, physiology, and stages of labor
  • How to prepare prenatally for the birth process- mind, body, and soul
  • Comfort measures for labor including breathing, massage, and movement
  • Medical interventions and pain medications
  • Postpartum recovery and the transition into parenthood

Included in our childbirth class is entry into our Village Prenatals (aka a pregnancy circles) for the birthing parent, so you may begin building your community.
