Making Mom Friends in LA
Making mom friends can feel so incredibly challenging when you’re taking care of kids, juggling a career, meal planning, and doing load after load of laundry. Trust me when I say that having a local bestie who gets it and can be added to the daycare pick-up list can ease the pressure that we are all under.
We live in a time where family is far away and all parenting is on the shoulders of the parents, alone. We need each other! Here are some incredible organizations who bring parents together from small gatherings in backyards to longstanding institutions.
Where to Make Mom Friends in LA
Village Birth We hold meetups, circles, and support groups for pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. Some of our events are casual meetups, while others are more structured, led by a specialist who can help trouble shoot and answer questions. Our circles call in reverence for this beautiful rite of passage, so you may slow down and reflect.
Encircled with April Trettel. Mom, doula and therapist, April brings love and magic to her circles and support groups. Usually held in various locations on the East Side, her themed circles bring moms together to honor and vent! She co-leads our Matrescence Circle at Village Birth.
Fit4Mom Work out while you network! I call it a networkout 🙂 If small talk isn’t your thing and you love to move, this is a wonderful option. Stroller classes are meant for mom and baby, and they have mom-only classes as well. They meet in various locations in Northeast LA and San Fernando Valley.
LA Yoga Mamas Cassie is a doula and prenatal yoga instructor who leads monthly walks for parents at Hollywood Reservoir. She also has prenatal and postpartum yoga workshops at Silverlake Yoga that we love!
Wild Heart Mamas Every Wednesday they meet at Brookside Park, Pasadena at 10:00 AM. Enjoy a pressure-free zone where moms can connect without any obligations.
The Pump Station & Nurtury Located in Santa Monica, The Pump Station offers baby gear, prenatal classes and support groups. Check out their many Parent & Me options.
Kindred Space LA Located in South LA, this birth center also offers community events. From postpartum support groups to Donuts with Dads to breastfeeding groups.
LA Dads Group is a diverse community of fathers who take an active role in their children’s lives. They meet several times per week, with kids, at parks, playgrounds, museums, parent-and-me classes, and living rooms across the Los Angeles area.
At Village Birth, we offer a safe space for honest conversation, retreat, and honoring the transition into parenthood. We offer doula services, childbirth classes, newborn care classes, lactation and pregnancy support for Los Angeles. Our space is in Sparrow’s Nest in Pasadena (bordering Eagle Rock) where we hold classes, support groups, workshops, and meetups.
