Village BirthSara Hoke

Hi There!

I’m Sara: Mother, doula, childbirth educator, karaoke singer, and owner of Village Birth.

I hail from the East Coast (DC & NYC) and now live in Northeast LA with my 2 babes, a husband and frenchie.

I’ve always felt that my calling was to nurture, teach and counsel. I am usually that friend who is eager to talk about matters of the heart and human experiences. No topic is off limits, so you can anticipate all the real-talk in our classes.

Further, I’ve been drawn to mothering, babies and the mysteries of birth. Now a mom of two, I truly know how transformative and beautiful birth is. Educating and supporting parents through the intense, raw and monumental period of birth and postpartum is a dream come true.

Sara the Doula

My approach is to meet the parents where they’re at, to respect their individuality and find what they truly need to feel safe while giving birth. There are so many choices within birth and parenthood, and I am here to help navigate the information, determine your desires and then support you as birth unfolds.

My message to clients: Birth is not predictable. We influence it with our intentions and informed choices, and ultimately surrender to the journey.

You can expect me to offer firm touch, soothing words and the space to do whatever you want and need.

As a former dancer, I really connect to the anatomy of the body and its energy, which informs my work in the birth room.

Birth Support

As a birth doula, I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I will draw on my knowledge and experience to provide you with physical and emotional support during your labor and provide evidence based information you may need to make informed decisions.

Before your birthing time, I will provide you with support via text/email/phone as well as 2 prenatal visits (1 virtual and 1 in person). We will discuss your birth preferences, review comfort measures, and address any concerns or questions you may have.

During labor, I will arrive when you are in active labor either at your home or birthing location.

We will also connect, postpartum to “unpack” your birth and ensure that you are all set for recovery.

I hope to always be a resource and friend to you, so our relationship will likely continue past our last visit.
